BEHIND METCHY'S CAFE!
Mr Mehmet Unvar came to Wales in the early 20th Century. Mehmet left behind the beautiful scenery of Antalya, Turkey but transmits an abundance of the Turks approach to hospitality. Mehmet has over 30 years of experience include fine dining, hotel and restaurants both in Turkey and Wales with a range of reputable restaurants and bars across Cardiff.
So why Metchy's Café in Cathays?
Mehmet's dream and sense of fulfillment derives from making people happy. He loves to welcome customers and to be at their service. Mehmet provides a cozy ambiance that draws your attention and makes you want to gravitate towards his environment.
Mehmet loves to learn about people and to exchange life experiences and cultures and what better place to start than the cosmopolitan area of Cathays. With thousands of international students and intelligent lecturers, professors and staff at the University as a whole, as well as the Welsh Government buildings to name just a few of our local neighbours.
Mehmet loves coffee and wants to provide customers with some fo Wales' and Turkey's most popular food choices.

Taught art, design and IT creatively in home city of London before moving back to beautiful Wales with its stunning scenery and lovely people. MA Arts Management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Lifelong pursuit of recording inspiration from Pandora's Box.
Currently enjoying experimentation with drawing through textiles. What fun!

It starts the day, it gets us through the day and it ends the day. Mehmet researched the right bean! And our brand LaVazza provides a fusion of the smooth taste and rich aroma that our customers crave. Coffee for Mehmet is at the heart of the café and he is always looking at creating new blends with our beans to provide an array of delicious approaches to utilising the coffee bean.
Our signature muffins are also the best combination alongside our coffee.
In terms of choices we have a selection of options to choose from to cater to meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans taking into considaration allergens to ensure that everyone can enjoy.
From breakfast, paninis, burgers, salad, mousakka, mezes, soups... You name your ideal right meal and we have it! Because meeting our customers' needs is the most important thing to our man, Mehmet!
